In entertainment, actor Hyun Bin stars in the movie "Confidential Assignment" as a handsome North Korean spy. Meanwhile, following their scandalous extramarital affair, movie director Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee have been invited to this year's Berlin International Film Festival. Here is a roundup from the Korean film industry.

South and North Korean detectives team up to capture a North Korean crime organization that has sneaked into the South. The duo of actors Yoo Hae-hin and Hyun Bin has created a sensation. But special attention is paid to Hyun Bin's transformation into a North Korean commando-turned detective.

[Soundbite] Hyun Bin(Actor) : "As I played the role of a North Korean detective, I met a teacher two or three times a week to practice a North Korean accent for some three months before the film shooting began."

North Korean military agents and spies are a popular material for South Korean movies. Starting with actor Kang Dong-won who appeared in a 2010 movie as an elite North Korean spy dispatched to South Korea, top-class actors, like Kim Soo-hyun, have played North Korean soldiers. These days, a departure from the past stereotype is evident: North Korean spies in recent movies are no longer described as a symbol of ideological conflicts. Currently, they gain popularity as characters who sacrifice for their families and suffer from mental wounds and difficulties as human beings. It's believed that South Koreans' more flexible attitude toward North Korea is behind the change. Director Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee, a couple involved in an extramarital scandal, were spotted shooting a new film. It has also been known that another movie by Hong starring Kim Min-hee has been invited to this year's Berlin International Film Festival, which is set to open next month. Organizers for the film festival have announced a list of movies on the official Web site. One of them is a Korean film entitled "On the Beach at Night Alone." This is Hong and Kim's second joint work, following their first movie "Right Now, Wrong Then." The two have not been revealed their stances since a scandal on their extramarital relationships erupted in June last year. So keener attention is paid to whether they will attend the film festival, than to the chances of their film winning an award. In particular, Kim Min-hee did not show up in film festivals at home and abroad last year, despite a stream of invitations for her role in the movie "The Handmaiden." For Hong, it is the first time in four years to have advanced to the competition section of the Berlin International Film Festival. And for Kim, this marks the first time in her film career. So attention is focused on whether the couple will appear on the red carpet together in the German city next month.
