There are about 500 companies nationwide that hire people with serious disabilities. Next, we take you on a visit to businesses in Jejudo Island where people with disabilities produce high-quality products and offer services.

Non-antibiotic pork from Jeju black pigs is processed into ham. Known for strict hygiene management, the factory is the first meat processor in Jeju to have obtained a certification of hazard analysis and critical control points or HACCP. Some 20 employees are those with disabilities and most are veteran workers with over ten years of work experience. The company's products are supplied to deluxe hotels, duty free shops, and exported overseas.

[Soundbite] Lee Gwi-kyung(Head of Jeju Peace Village) : "We are proud of ourselves as the best sausage and ham producer in Jeju. It's true because we are sole factory in Jeju that continues to produce sausage and ham."

Hotel rooms are being tidied up for the next guests. All room cleaners are employees with disabilities.

[Soundbite] Yang Hye-jeong(Hotel Employee) : "With my monthly wage, I save, give my parents some allowance and eat what I like."

Having proved its competitiveness through the management of the hotel, the company has launched a business to offer a cleaning service to some 150 clients on the island.

[Soundbite] Bae Ji-hoon(Korean Disabled People's Development Institute) : "We don't just depend on the public sector. We are also strict with quality management in order to ensure customer satisfaction."

Attention is being given to businesses that hire people with disabilities and produce high-quality products and services.
