The National Intelligence Service says the assassination of Kim Jong-nam was organized by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as a government-led act of terrorism. The NIS presumes that the eight North Korean suspects include four officials from the North's State Security Department, two from the Foreign Ministry, one from the North Korean national airline Air Koryo and one from Singwang Economics and Trading, a subsidiary of the North Korean government.

[Soundbite] Lee Chul-woo(Head of National Assembly Intelligence Committee) : "The NIS believes that it was a government-led terrorist act, because it was organized directly by N. Korea's State Security Department and Foreign Ministry."

The NIS has reported that four of the eight suspects split into two teams, each comprising two members. One of the teams oversaw the Vietnamese woman, while the other was in charge of the Indonesian woman. The teams joined together in Malaysia to kill Kim Jong-nam on February 13th. The remaining four suspects presumably acted as assistants by tracing Kim Jong-nam and coordinating the assassins. The NIS said that although the Kim Jong-un regime is keeping its mouth shut, the news of Kim Jong-nam's murder has spread among overseas agents and ordinary officials.

[Soundbite] Kim Byung-ki(National Assembly Intelligence Committee) : "Some people were shocked to learn about Kim Jong-nam's existence for the first time, while others find it pathetic that he was murdered for just several hundred dollars."

The NIS said that the news of Kim Jong-nam's assassination will contribute to further undermining the North Korean regime.
