Director Bong Joon-ho's new film "Okja" has made its international debut in France. The movie has received somewhat mixed reviews, but is thanks to its controversial content, it’s sure to create a strong reaction. Let's check it out.

Actors appearing in the movie "Okja," which was invited to the competition section of this year's Cannes International Film Festival, walk on the red carpet together. Reporters from around the world had their eyes and cameras fixed on the cast, proving the heated attention to the movie. The film was unveiled on Friday afternoon, local time. The movie tells the story of a friendship between an enormous mutant animal, Okja, and a girl named Mija who lives in the mountainous region of Gangwon-do Province. But it contains the message of criticism against humans' greed in the age of capitalism.

[Soundbite] Bong Joon-ho(Director) : "Animals are living in the era of capitalism, like us. They suffer from fatigue and pain stemming from it. I wanted to explicitly show those elements through the film."

The audience gave a four-minute-long standing ovation after the official premiere. However, the Cannes film festival's official magazine announced that the movie received a score of two-point-three on a scale of one to four stars. Previously, the film created controversy, as it was produced on the premise of a streaming service. Actress Tilda Swinton starring in "Okja" expressed regrets over the jury chairman's remarks against the movie.

It will be announced at the closing ceremony on May 28th whether Okja will win an award or not.
