An international exhibition displaying paintings of Dokdo by some 400 artists from 31 countries has opened in Seoul. Take a look.

This painting portraying Dokdo in the form of a green heart was drawn by a Mexican artist. It represents his wish for peace. And this work by a Hungarian artist features a cactus and a bird as well as an old map showing that Dokdo belongs to Korea. The two islets of Dokdo, Dongdo and Seodo, drawn underneath the Korean flag send a clear message. In this piece, the sea off Dokdo is portrayed in a three-dimensional way through red flower petals and a book. A renowned Polish poet even wrote an impressive poem about Dokdo. This exhibition has brought together the works of more than 400 artists from Korea and abroad, more than the initial goal of 333 artists to pay homage to 33 Korean independence fighters.

[Soundbite] Bae Sung-mi(Corea Forum of Design) : "I hope that the works of foreign artists portraying Dokdo will bring the world together."

The exhibition is all the more meaningful because it was organized using funds raised by the ordinary public.
