U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in his remark to the World Economic Forum that there has been progress from the meeting between high ranking U.S. and North Korean officials and from U.S. President Donald Trump's meeting with the North Korean delegation in Washington. He also said there was some development in the working meeting between the U.S. Special Representative for North Korean Affairs and his North Korean counterpart held thereafter in Sweden.

The negotiation in Sweden was an opportunity to discuss "complicated issues towards achieving what the two leaders laid out back last June in Singapore."

His remark prompts the question whether there has been any progress regarding Pyongyang's denuclearization and Washington's reciprocal measures. Secretary Pompeo said that there's not much time left until the second summit slated for late February while there's still a lot left to do for both the United States and North Korea. There are likely to be more discussions to follow between the two countries, because there remain issues that the two sides need to work out. Secretary Pompeo said the upcoming North Korea-U.S. summit in late February will be another milestone toward denuclearization.
