Director Park Chan-wook's "Joint Security Area" is to be remade into a Hollywood movie 19 years after its first release. Internet Movie Database, an online database on movies and TV shows better known as IMDb, reported recently that screenwriter David Franzoni is reworking the Korean cinematic hit. Released in 2000, "Joint Security Area" is about the relationship forged between South and North Korean soldiers in the demilitarized zone. It featured such stars as Song Kang-ho, Lee Byung-hun and Lee Young-ae. According to IMDb, the American version of this movie is set against the U.S.-Mexican border, not on the Korean Peninsula and the main characters investigate the shootout between American Marines and Mexican special forces. Cuban-born actress Ana de Armas from sci-fi movie "Blade Runner 2049" will take on the leading role and production is scheduled to begin this coming fall. Girl group Black Pink is poised to debut in the U.S. music market by appearing on a famous American TV show. The group is to appear on the ABC signature show "Good Morning America" on February 12. "Good Morning America" is a morning news show that was launched four decades ago. K-pop band BTS also made headlines by appearing on the show last year. Sources say that on February 15 Black Pink will also appear on "Strahan and Sara," a show hosted by a former pro-football player. The production team of "Good Morning America" broke the news about Black Pink's scheduled appearance on the show on its social media. The message said that Black Pink will perform live in a studio in Times Square in New York. Black Pink has recently signed a contract with an American record company. The group will also perform at the Coachella 2019 music festival in California in April.
