With rumors about North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's health continuing to circulate, some North Korean media sources say Kim has expressed gratitude to the workers who participated in the construction of the Wonsan-Kalma coastal tourist area. Meanwhile, Democratic Party Rep. Ahn Kyu-baek, who is heading the National Assembly Defense Committee, says Kim Jong-un is unlikely to be having any serious problems with his health.
Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki says the government will prepare stronger and more comprehensive measures next month to help Korean businesses attract large-scale overseas infrastructure orders, overcome the ongoing export slump, and advance into overseas markets as they struggle amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The government will provide special relief to the aircraft dealership, duty-free shop, exhibition and airport bus sectors, which are likely to see the number of jobs plummet due to the pandemic. The government has selected the four sectors because they are closely correlated with the travel and tourism sectors, which had been selected for government support earlier, and will likely take a long time to recover as they rely heavily on the situation around the world.
Amid the Coronavirus pandemic affecting all parts of the world, KBS World TV has decided to provide free of charge a special edition of its signature K-pop show "We K-pop" to the fans of Korean culture in Malaysia, as part of the Malaysian program "Stay Home Concert." KBS hopes the project will offer consolation to the Malaysian people during the COVID-19 pandemic and help medical workers fighting the virus on the frontlines. The show which features various K-POP stars loved both home and abroad will air from April 27 through May 10.
