Upon arriving in the U.S. Thursday, Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-kun says South Korea's alliance with the United States is the basis for its diplomacy and security, while it has geographical proximity and close economic ties with China. He also made it clear that the country is not pursuing equidistant diplomacy between Beijing and Washington. The vice minister is now visiting Washington at the invitation of his U.S. counterpart Stephen Biegun.
