The Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Industry Ministry have signed a business deal on the research and development of parts and materials for the defense sector. The agreement will seek to domestically produce the engine that goes into the K9 self-propelled artillery. South Korea's K9 howitzers are positively reviewed by the military and even in the export market but the engine is German-made. Under the partnership, DAPA will uncover related tasks and the ministry will invest 75 billion won in development costs for 5 years.
