The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation held today test flights of delivery drones and drone taxis at Yeouido in Seoul. A two-person manned drone was featured at today's demonstration and flew over Yeouido and the Hangang River carrying a load as heavy as a single adult. Six multipurpose drones used for goods delivery and traffic assessment were also tested using the K-drone control system. Prior to the test flights, the Ministry had announced its plan to commercially operate urban aerial traffic, starting in 2025.
Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon said today that the party will start a mid-to-long term project to develop Seoul into an economic, financial and cultural hub in East Asia and relocate the National Assembly to Sejong City in phases. Sejong Mayor Lee Chun-hee replied that the project could be launched in 2022 only when the discussions are concluded at the regular parliamentary session this year and a plan is devised by next year. He asked the National Assembly to set up legal grounds and secure funding for the project.
