With the growing number of foreign workers and international marriages in Korea, one school in southern Korea boasts ten different nationalities among the students' parents. Follow us to this school, a true global village thanks to multicultural education.

Amid cheers from their friends, students walk forward stepping on coconut shells. The coconut shells race is a traditional game enjoyed in Vietnam and Thailand. In another classroom, children are immersed in a traditional Filipino game that involves bamboo sticks.

[Soundbite] Han Na-yeon, Choi Ji-won(4th Grade) : "I didn't know it was a game from the Philippines. It was fun playing and I think it made me closer with friends. It was exciting."

Of the 220 students at this school, 27 have parents of ten different nationalities. Multicultural experience enjoyed through games has a far greater appeal to the children than verbal education.

[Soundbite] Student from Uzbekistan : "As we talk, I get to know what other friends are thinking and it's easier to understand them."

The parents also play their role in the education of different cultures. Lessons at home are just as important as classes in school.

[Soundbite] Ryu Hye-ran(Parent) : "There're many kids of multicultural families in our neighborhood as well. I teach my children at home to treat these friends with no bias or prejudice."

There are some 82-thousand students from multicultural families in Korea. The government also aims to expand education on cultural diversity in schools.
