Dreaming of writing a new chapter in the history of Korean rhythmic gymnastics, Son Yeon-jae arrives at Rio de Janeiro Airport looking upbeat. Before her arrival, Son posted her childhood photos on social media to strengthen her determination. She even took a night flight after training during the day in order to keep herself in peak condition.

[Soundbite] Son Yeon-jae(Korean Nat’l Rhythmic Gymnast Team) : "I have been training hard to prepare myself. I will do my best in the next three days to stay in good condition and perform well."

While training in Sao Paulo along with the Russian team since July 27, Son Yeon-jae boosted her confidence. Sources say the training sessions were held in settings similar to the Olympic venue, including the stage and spectators, so that the athletes could overcome anxiety. With just three days left before the competitions, Son Yeon-jae, who was the last among the South Korean athletes to arrive in Rio, will begin her final training sessions on Thursday as she sets her sights on winning Korea's first medal in rhythmic gymnastics.
