With a week left to the 66th anniversary of the famed Incheon Landing Operation during the Korean War, a 90 year old veteran visited the site of the operation where he served in an intelligence unit. Let’s take a look.

The Incheon Landing Operation quickly turned the tide at a crisis point during the Korean War. A month prior to the operation, South Korea formed an intelligence unit of 17 soldiers. The men even disguised themselves as North Korean troops or construction workers in order to infiltrate the enemy camp and obtain intelligence. Korean War veteran Kim Sun-gi, who commanded this intelligence unit, has revisited the site of the Incheon operation, 53 years later.

[Soundbite] Kim Sun-gi(90/Intelligence Chief, Operation X-Ray) : "The intelligence our unit obtained was all there was at the time of the Incheon Landing Operation. My men gathered info from the Incheon coast, Songdo and further down in Seosan."

Above all else, Kim's memories are of his subordinates, who were with him on the battlefield fighting for their lives.

[Soundbite] Kim Sun-gi(90/Intelligence Chief, Operation X-Ray) : "I owe my life to my men who protected me. I wonder how they are living right now. I really want to know."

The elderly veteran did not forget to say that such a horrible war must never again be repeated.
