KBS drama "Descendants of the Sun" was named this year’s winner of the excellent drama in the Korean "hallyu" drama category at the Seoul International Drama Awards. Here are some scenes from yesterday's award ceremony.

"Descendants of the Sun" star Song Joong-ki, Mina Fujii of Japan, and other foreign celebrities showed up for the Seoul International Drama Awards 2016. The top honor at the Seoul International Drama Awards went to the British spy thriller "The Night Manager." In the Korean "hallyu" drama category "Descendants of the Sun" aired on KBS won the Excellent Korean Drama award. The series was exported to some 60 countries around the globe and fueled the worldwide craze for Korean dramas.
[Soundbite] Bae Gyeong-soo(Executive Producer, "Descendants of the Sun") : "After the series aired, overseas markets showed more interest and trust in Korean dramas."
The Outstanding Korean Actor award went to Song Joong-ki, who sparked the "Descendants of the Sun" syndrome, and Shin Min-ah from the KBS drama "Oh My Venus" won the Outstanding Korean Actress award.
[Soundbite] Song Joong-ki(Main actor, "Descendants of the Sun") : "I got to where I am today, because I played Yoo Si-jin, a really lovable and attractive character."
Marking its 11th year, the Seoul International Drama Awards is the world's only award ceremony for TV dramas. KBS President Ko Dae-young, also serving as the award ceremony's organizing committee chair, said that he will do his best to promote drama exchanges among different countries and to introduce well-made TV shows.
