North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has appeared in public for the first time since the assassination of his half-brother Kim Jong-nam. In the video, the North Korean dictator appears rather grim.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appeared at the Workers Party's central committee meeting held ahead of his late father Kim Jong-il's 75th birthday. It is the young leader's first official appearance in the wake of the assassination of his half brother Kim Jong-nam.

[Soundbite] Kim Yong-nam(President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly) : "The towering virtue will continue on to future generations."

Seated on the podium, his expression is grim and stiff. Despite thunderous loyalty pledges from the auditorium, he claps his hands absent mindedly. North Korean parliamentary leader Kim Yong-nam goes on to congratulate the launch of the Pukguksong-2 missile but Kim Jong-un is still expressionless.

[Soundbite] Kim Yong-nam(President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly) : "The successful test-launch of the Pukguksong-2 missile further illuminates the Day of the Shining Star (Kim Jong-il's birthday)."

How he looks is actually similar to his appearance during an official event immediately following the execution of his uncle Jang Song-thaek in 2013. However, the young leader this day still appeared to accelerate moves for his idolization.
