Three wild boars have appeared once again at an apartment complex in central Daejeon. They are believed to have ventured out to the city center to find food. Firefighters captured one of them in an apartment basement but couldn't find the other two.

Two wild boars run into an apartment complex in central Daejeon. They ran around the residential area nearly ramming into a resident who was taking out the trash. One of the boars broke through a window to enter the basement. Trapped inside the basement, the boar was captured by firefighters and dangerous animal hunters.

[Soundbite] KIM DAE-HONG(DAEJEON FIREFIGHTER) : "We tried to sedate it with our tranquilizer, but it didn't work. So we asked the hunters to kill the animal."

Two out of three boars caught on camera were last spotted near the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology four kilometers away before disappearing into the woods. The Daejeon city government issued a public service announcement warning that wild boars were on the run and continued tracking the animals. Although there were no casualties, nearby residents are still concerned for their safety.

[Soundbite] JEONG YONG-SEON(APARTMENT RESIDENT) : "I'm glad that the animal has been taken care of. I don't know where it came from, but I hope this doesn't happen again."

This is the latest in a string of boar-related incidents in the region. Last month a wild boar crashed into a store in Sejong City. The Daejeon city government believes more wild boars will come down to urban areas in search of food this winter. It has vowed tougher efforts to capture them.
