Next we'll take a look at the Seoul Grand Park forest where city-dwellers can take respite from the sultry weather. The forest is also said to have some health-boosting properties as well, which comes in handy when it’s so hot outside.

This so-called 'healing forest' is located near Cheonggyesan Mountain surrounding Seoul Grand Park. The forest was opened to the public in July for the first time in 30 years. Untouched by human visitors for several decades, its natural environment has been pristinely preserved. The forest has a one-kilometer trail, while its area has been doubled in the past year to 100,000 square kilometers. It's become such a popular destination that reservations are booked as soon as they are made available to the public. The forest is seeing scores of visitors because forests are known for their ability to treat ailments such as eczema and asthma, and to help alleviate depression and stress. Phytoncides, negative ions and the pleasant scents emitted by the trees help boost the immune system and restore health. Visitors can choose from an array of programs designed for various age groups and symptoms. The programs are provided by forest therapy professionals. Reservations can be made online, and admission is free of charge.
