The by-elections held across 30 electoral districts nationwide have come to an end. Kim Jae-won of the Liberty Korea Party won a parliamentary seat, the only seat available in this round of by-elections. Here’s more on the results.

Rep. Kim Jae-won of the Libery Korea Party won a parliamentary seat for the third time in the April 12th by-elections. Kim received 47 percent of the votes in Sangju, Gunwi, Uiseong and Cheongsong in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. Kim used to serve as former President Park Geun-hye's secretary for political affairs. His victory in the by-elections serves as further proof that the Liberty Korea Party is still highly supported in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do regions.

[Soundbite] Rep. Kim Jae-won(Liberty Korea Party) : "Restoring right-wing politics and eliminating confusion in my party is the priority."

Rep. Oh Su-bong of the Democratic Party has won the post of Hanam mayor, while Kim Jong-cheon of the Liberty Korea Party has been elected Pocheon mayor. The by-elections were held in 30 electoral districts nationwide. The Liberty Korea Party won in 12, the Democratic Party in seven, the People's Party in four, and the Bareun Party in two. The Liberty Korea Party celebrated its "big victory" by saying that it will strengthen unity among the conservatives. The Democratic Party said that the results of the elections were meaningful, because the party was able to earn recognition from the public despite the disadvantages it faced in the elections. The People's Party called the results ofthe by-elections "a priceless victory."
