Another South Korean national has been killed in the Philippines.
Every year, about ten South Koreans are murdered in the Philippines, and the deadly trend shows few signs of stopping.

A South Korean national was found dead in a private house in Cebu, the Philippines on the afternoon of May 20. The man in his forties had been shot to death. Sources say he worked as a tour guide and ran a restaurant in Cebu. The victim was found by a neighbor, who saw him through the window lying on the floor and reported to the police. Police presume that the victim died two or three days ago. The neighborhood where the murder took place is mostly inhabited by locals and has no surveillance cameras. Korean police officers have been dispatched to the area to investigate the incident in cooperation with the local police.

[Soundbite] Lee Yong-sang(Police Officer/S. Korean Consulate in Cebu) : "We're not ruling out anything, but the possibility of burglary is very low. Nothing in the victim's house has disappeared."

This is the first murder case involving South Korean nationals this year. Back in 2015, eleven South Koreans were killed in the Philippines. Last year, nine were murdered. Last October, a shocking incident occurred when a South Korean entrepreneur was murdered by a Filipino police officer at the local police headquarters.
