The 12 hills were said to be passed by vendors during the Joseon Dynasty era. An endlessly stretching pine tree forest makes a magnificent sight. The pine trees in the forest are distinctively taller and straighter than those in other regions, even creating a mysterious look. With its reputation as one of the nation's best forest trails, it has now become a famous tourist attraction.

[Soundbite] Kwak Soon-young(Kumgang Pine Tree Forest Trail Guide) : "The Kumgang pine tree forest trail has operated on a reservation system since 2011. More than 30,000 people a year visit."

Thick woods have been created with 800,000 trees, including fir trees, which were planted near the Daegwallyeong Mountain Pass. It is also the living evidence of Korea's forestation efforts. A healing forest has recently opened, providing chances to enjoy various benefits from refreshing scents to the view and negative ions. A list of the nation's ten best forests with great scenery and ecological value has been announced.

[Soundbite] Park Young-hwan(Korea Forest Service) : "Among large national forests measuring over 500,000 square meters, we have made ten selections with the most beautiful scenery, which are open to public access."

The Korea Forest Service expressed expectations that the forests will attract over 300,000 tourists a year and create the financial effects of at least 30 billion won to help local economies.
