Gunshots are heard in the background and an exchange of fire has broken out in a downtown area. Men and women are divided into groups and wear vests and helmets equipped with electronic devices. They then engage in a survival style combat game similar to an actual street battle.

[Soundbite] Lee Seon-jeong(Konyang University) : "It's a real-life setting here. It's exciting to play games here."

The 32,000 square meter military-life theme park opened near the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do Province and it's the largest of its kind in the country. The city of Nonsan invested 10 billion won and began its construction in 2014. It's been completed in 3 years. At the theme park, visitors can also enjoy virtual reality combat experiences eerily similar to real life combat. They need to be alert every second as the VR experience assumes real life offensive scenarios, such as attacks on a terrorist group base. At the screen shooting range, any participant, man or woman, young and old, can try hitting the bulls-eye using mock rifles that are replicas of real ones.

[Soundbite] Hwang Myeong-sun(Mayor of Nonsan) : "Befitting Nonsan's stature as a defense-centered city, we will strive to make the theme park the best in the country and the world."

A nearby "sudden attack studio" which has recreated the downtown scene of 1950s Korea is also becoming a tourist hotspot as period films and TV shows can be shot on site.
